Book Reviews – 2017

I decided to keep track of all the books I’m reading in 2017. I’ll be adding to the list as I go. If you’ve read any of the same, let me know. We can discuss them. I’ll also leave a short review (without spoilers) just in case you’re looking for something to read. If I don’t have anything nice to say about a book–I won’t say anything at all. If you’re an indy author and would like me to review your book, feel free to contact me.

THE WARDS OF BYTA by Robin Smith -I really enjoyed THE WARDS OF BYTA! It was an exciting adventure with interesting family and community dynamics. This book had all the elements I love in a book–fantasy, adventure, and love. A real page turner!
I’d recommend this book to friends. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author. You can buy it here

CONFESSIONS OF AN OLD LADY by Christina Morgan – After reading a few books from this author, I wanted to find more by her. This one did not disappoint! Bonus…there is some romance to go along with the thrills. I loved “bad boy” Sonny and was pulled into wanting to protect him right away. I’ll definitely be reading more books by this author. I never get bored and the story moves along at such a quick and exciting pace, I can’t stop turning pages. Interested? You can buy it here CONFESSIONS OF AN OLD LADY

UNDERTOW by Christina Morgan – I’ve been a fan of Morgan’s books since her first book, Like Father Like Daughter. So I was thrilled to learn she’d just released yet another dark, twisty thriller. The wit and humor in the banter between main character Kate and her hot, sexy attorney boyfriend Grant makes this dark book actually fun to read. There’s a bit more romance (but no graphic sex) in this novel compared to Morgan’s other books, but that does nothing to take away from the dark, mysterious, and suspenseful tone of the novel. I kept going back and forth between whether or not Grant killed his wife. But I certainly did not see the ending coming! The author really knows how to keep you guessing until the very end. It’s hard to be surprised anymore in this genre, but Morgan somehow always pulls it off. If you’re considering buying this book, do yourself a favor and do it! It’s a great psychological thriller with not one but two twist endings that you won’t see coming. Well worth the time and money.

AFTERMATH by Joe Reyes – A heart thumping page turner! This was an exciting read. Reyes does a good job of getting the reader to identify with the characters. I felt like I was in their shoes ( unfortunately sometimes—eww the meat). The author also did a great job of leaving just enough mystery to make me feel like I was confused along with the characters about just what had happened to the world, what was going on, and what (or who) could be waiting around the next corner. I guess I’ll find out more as the series continues. Can’t wait!

THE LOST DRAGON by Judith Wade -Such an exciting (tall) tale! I absolutely adored this book. You move right along through the pages with the main character, and you just don’t want to put it down. My kids were so wrapped up in the story; I think they may have begun to feel that they saw dragons too! Beginning to end LOVED IT! This is one we will read again and again.

TELL ME A STORY by Randy Pearson -I greatly enjoyed this delightful collection of short stories. Every story was interesting and offered something different–sometimes sweetness, silliness, maybe some scares or laughs. It was a fun little surprise to see what I was going to read next.
