The Story of My Story – A GAME OF TRUTHS

The story of my story – A GAME OF TRUTHS

It’s incredible to me that people will be reading my story in only a few days (well, if anyone buys it that is. I guess I should work on some marketing, huh?)

Anyway, I thought I’d share the way in which A GAME OF TRUTHS came about.

It went from an idea that arrived out of nowhere while I was here (I should have pretended I have one of those huge, fancy showers)…

The End!

Okay, not really. The idea kinda came out of nowhere while I was in the shower. I’m convinced there’s magic in water! I don’t know how it happens, it’s just the way it works for me. I don’t brainstorm or anything. Some ideas I’ll get, and write down for later. Others won’t let me do that. I was working on a different book when this particular idea struck. The little bugger of a muse just would not get out of my head and insisted I listen to it first! Kind of like someone poking their finger into the back of your head until you do what they want. How rude!

I had to push that other book to the side (where it’s still waiting–poor thing)

I started writing at the beginning of April and finished about 3-4 weeks later. I didn’t do any plotting. I just flew along by the seat of my pants. Here’s the chair where I do ALL my writing (in case you’re curious)

I bought it for my husband, but I stole it. It’s just so comfy! You can see one of my dogs, Wally, sleeping on the floor there. I get to listen to his snoring while I write.

After writing, I did a round of edits, let my husband read it, then sent it off to a developmental editor. She sent her notes back, and I edited and edited, and edited some more. I handed it over to critique partners, and they sent back notes. I edited, and edited, and edited some more.

Here is where I do my editing (and pull out my hair)

The desk is messy, I know, but I’ll blame it on the fact that it’s a shared space 😉

I entered a few contests (didn’t win) and sent out about 10 query letters. I received a few rejections. I withdrew about half (they most likely would have been rejected anyway)  I withdrew them because I had previously entered a pitch contest on Twitter–Pitmad–and received interest from a small publisher. I sent them the manuscript, and after a wait with my stomach all tied up in knots, I found out they were interested in publishing it. Yay!

And that leads us back to here…(well after more editing, editing, and editing)

Isn’t the cover cool! I LOVE it ❤️

It’s available in just a few more days–2 to be exact. I hope that if you buy it, you enjoy it. And if you enjoy it, would you mind leaving a review on Amazon and telling your friends? If there’s anything else you’d like to know, I’d love to answer any questions.

YAY!

Unless you don’t like it, of course. Then I’ll be like this (only I can’t play piano)

Cover Reveal – A GAME OF TRUTHS

Cover Reveal – A GAME OF TRUTHS

Today is the cover reveal for my novel, A GAME OF TRUTHS. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how the cover turned out. It captures the mood of the book so well. Blue Deco Publishing showed me once again that I made the right choice for my book. Thanks to everyone who continues to support me with this monumental step I’m taking with my career and with my heart. Sharing this piece of myself, my art, with other people has been difficult for me. I still have a lot of anxiety but know that putting outside of my comfort zone is how I’m going to move forward and grow.

Seeing this cover. Wow, my heart is ready to burst. I feel very proud today.

My book is getting published(!)

My book is getting published(!)

As many of you may have heard from my recent tweets and Facebook posts, my book, A GAME OF TRUTHS, is going to be published by Blue Deco Publishing. I’m very excited, and I’m also extremely nervous. I’m a bundle of nerves actually. What if nobody likes it? What if everyone discovers I’m a fraud and a crap writer? You wouldn’t believe what a hard time I’m having enjoying this moment. It is terrifying!

It certainly is easier to feel confident for and believe in other people than it is to do the same for myself. I want to thank everyone for the support they’ve given me. It really is hard to find the courage to put your work and soul out into the world like this. I never could have done it without the encouragement. So, Thank you. And I’m also going to get out of my comfort zone and ask you for help in spreading the word about my book and ask that if you read it and enjoy it that you write a review on Amazon or Goodreads. It really would mean the world to me.  If I can ever return the favor in any way, I’m most willing.

Thanks again to everyone who has and continues to support me. I truly appreciate you more than I can express. I also want to thank Blue Deco Publishing who saw something in my story that they believed in.
